Around Dutchland, January, 1994 by Penny Pyrbred Penny has just two words for the great Penn-Dutch Holiday Party--"Bah, Humbug." What were the people thinking when they excluded their Pyrs? This is species discrimination! Did they forget that we are French party animals? Pyrs will want to note that the Annual Meeting (zzzzz!) is also a Pyrless event, but I think we can find better ways to spend the weekend in any case. Penny plans to build an enormous snow dog. (For newcomers, it always snows when these crazy people plan their Annual Meeting). I hope both Pyrs and people had a happy holiday season. Penny got lots of nice Christmas presents, and is still a little hazy about what she did on New Year's Eve, but has been told she had a wonderful time. Speaking of wonderful times, was there a big party around the end of October that Penny missed? Maybe a little orgy during the Walk in the Woods? Whatever, there has been an explosion of Penn-Dutch puppies during the holiday season. The Platts have been celebrating with chocolate cigars for their human visitors, and have bedecked their house with pink and blue balloons. Congratulations everyone. Penny also wants to congratulate Lacey Griesemer, the second calendar girl in the Griesemer family. She is featured in the 1994 Great Pyrenees Calendar (Ms. June, I think). Way to go, Lacey! On a final note, Penny has already found item number one on next year's Christmas wish list. The latest issue of Car and Driver reviews the Volvo 850 Turbo Sportswagon, and Penny wants one! Capable of 147 mph, this is the perfect vehicle for the Pyr who wants to arrive at the next dog show on time (or even early), in style, and in comfort. Talk to your people! That's it for now. I hope to see lots of Penn-Dutch Pyrs and people at the Canine Learning Experience, Saturday, January 29th at the Allentown Fairgrounds Ag Hall.
