Around Dutchland, July, 1994 by Penny Pyrbred It's hard to believe that when the last issue was being prepared there was snow everywhere. Now we have blazing heat and Penny is spending most of her time in air conditioned bistros imbibing lots of liquid refreshment! Some scientists blame the weird weather on a hole in the ozone layer and are looking for something to supplement this insulating layer of the atmosphere. Penny suggests Pyr hair. It's light, an effective insulator, and environmentally friendly. Just send the Shuttle up to the problem area with an enormous hair ball of Pyr fur, and poof, no more problem! NASA, however, has yet to respond to my fax. Elsewhere in this issue there are reports on Penn-Dutch's well-attended supported entry show in Harrisburg, and the GPCA National Specialty in Iowa. Conrad Gill and escort, Ms. PB Marple, had an especially good time at the Pyrenees Ball, which was formal this year. The Iowa Pyrs hosted an exceptionally elegant and fun event which will be tough to top. Too bad the hotel management didn't appreciate the Pyr hair in their swimming pool filters. Perhaps next season's Pyr swim suit should feature a large hair net. Heat or no heat, Penny is looking forward to seeing all her people and Pyr friends at the Penn-Dutch Fun Match July 30th. Last year we got a real break in weather, and maybe that will be repeated this year. The Lancaster Central Park is a great place to play, and there will be lots of fun, food and games for both people and Pyrs. (The food isn't, strictly speaking, supposed to be for the Pyrs, but practice looking cute, folks, and the people will share.) I hope to see everyone there.
