Around Dutchland, January, 1995 by Penny Pyrbred Through the services of a "Stealth Pyr" who attended briefly, and by means of rifling through our people's photo packets, we have obtained a pretty clear picture of the people's Pyrless Christmas Party. What a bore! Not even a stripper this year. When will they learn that Pyrs were the original party animals? Oh well, they seem to have had a good time. While the people partied, Clondike Kintsfather hosted the Pyr blast of the year. We bopped till we dropped, and Penny is still a little hung over. Perhaps this Dr. Sanquini who is going to write an "Ask a Vet" column has something to suggest for the French (of course) champagne hangover. He might also give Clondike some tips on cellulite management. Speaking of Clondike, word is that her mommy pre-heated the oven with a plastic mixing bowl in it and created lots of smoke and mess. Did Clondike dial 911 like the highly trained security animal she purports to be? Ha! She ran to the door and expected the Rescue Squad to save her from this "crazy woman." The people who were going to write more about the Educational Seminar are a little behind, so we'll look for that in the next issue. Meanwhile we do have some pictures of the two veterinarians who gave such excellent presentations on how to take care of your Pyr. Dr. Chris Runnels specializes in orthopedics and concentrated mostly on the orthopedic problems of us big breeds. Dr. Harold Landis talked about what to do in an emergency until you can get to a vet, and about digestive upsets. Penny found both presentations interesting and helpful. If you missed the Seminar, video tapes are available of some of the main events. There should be an order form in this issue. Jane Gill's Introduction to Obedience should be submitted to Caroline's Comedy Hour, but then just the concept of Pyr obedience is pretty funny. Well, that's all for now. I hope to see all of my Pyr and people friends at the Canine Learning Experience in Allentown on January 28th. (NOTE: Please use your browser's "BACK" button to return to the Around Dutchland page.)
