TVR 510 Field/NLE Project Assignment

In addition to the 5 minute studio production, each student will produce a video project tailored to his/her interests. This requirement may be satisfied in the following ways:

1. Completing the Final Cut Pro Tutorial and one of the other 3 projects digitized on the NLE workstations.

2. Shooting and editing a 3-5 minute informational/instructional video. This may be shot on DVCPro or the student's own equipment and edited on our cuts-only equipment or on other editing equipment the student may have access to. A/B roll equipment is available, but only limited use is recommended because of time constraints.

3. If a student is particularly interested in studio production, an additional short studio production may be used to fill this requirement as long as it has some field video (need not be edited) included.

4. While this course emphasizes using video to convey information, students are free to "pitch" ideas for a short narrative skit to be produced either in the studio or through field production and editing. Just keep time limitations in mind.

Whichever type of project is selected, it should be submitted on VHS tape at the high (SP) speed or on DVD and is due on the exam day. All projects should be preceded by technical standards including 30 seconds of bars and tone, 20 seconds of slate and 10 seconds of black. No treatment or other materials are required, but they may be submitted if desired.
